New Patented Technology
Dean
Knuth (pronounced Ka-nooth), a former Senior Director at the
United States Golf Association (1981-1997) and the primary inventor of
the USGA Course Rating and Slope System, has invented a new high
performance driver. After leaving the USGA, Knuth developed a driver
based on the principle that the greatest loss of kinetic energy at
impact between a golf ball and a driver is the result of heat generated
during the deformation (flattening) of the ball. If the flattening of
the ball can be reduced, it will launch off the face with higher
velocity and less spin, for a longer flight and with greater roll. In
researching how to optimize energy transfer at impact, Knuth patented
the discovery that when the driver face vibrates at a very high
frequency, golf ball acceleration increases and spin decreases. He also
discovered that the optimum feel increases at higher frequencies.
Hot launches at high frequency
As drivers have increased in size
in recent years to provide golfers with more forgiveness, the result
normally has lowered the natural frequency of the face plates to as low
as 2,500 HZ. The larger faces have produced springier clubfaces and
hotter launches. But the clubfaces' COR (Coefficient of Restitution), a
measure of their springiness, has been limited to 0.83 by the USGA and
most leading brands now have CORs close to the USGA limit.
Dean Knuth has invented a large
driver head that uses his patented parabolic design inside of the face
plate that “tunes-up” its frequency, achieving great forgiveness and
maintaining the highest COR permitted by the USGA.
Greater flexibility and
strength
His company, Panda Golf, has
developed his patent-pending process of creating dense titanium alloy
face plates, by cutting them with lasers, pressing them into a die at
extreme pressure to produce highly precise and dense face plates. The
resulting driver produces consistently long drives with lower spin
rates and longer roll.
Russian Titanium
Panda Golf’s Russian titanium is
among the most advanced and superior titanium alloys in the world.
Panda Golf teamed with a Russian aerospace company under Knuth’s
direction to manufacture his patented face plates using BT-22 alloy---a
superior Russian-made titanium. This process has made the face plate
more dense and efficient for maximum driver performance.

Optimized ball flight
The strength advantages of Panda
Golf’s patented parabolic designs are also built into the sole and the
crown of the P4 High Heat Driver ™. The combination of the BT-22
titanium in the body of the head, as well as the parabolic-shaped
design, provides increased body strength. These inventions result in an
improved distribution of weight – resulting in optimized ball flight
and ease of getting the ball airborne. The trailing edge of the driver
also has an imbedded dense “weight ball” design for distributing weight
and to enhance center of gravity.
The P4 High Heat Driver is made in
420cc volume (called the ES™ model), with two versions—9.5 degrees loft
and the 11degree loft for higher ball launching assistance. We also
have a left-handed 10.5-degree model.
The shaft is the “engine” of a
quality driver, and all of our drivers come with a top-end premium
Fujikura shaft.
Our driver is painted with a
distinctively rich and durable metallic cobalt blue.
Test-drive the new P4 High Heat
Driver and detect its superior technology on the first swing. The loud
and high-pitched sound will also allow you to “HEAR THE POWER”.
*U.S. Patents 6,659,885,
6,659,884, 7,131,912 and 7,273,421. Panda
Golf also has other patent applications pending. Those inventions are
not disclosed.
